✨Nelie from the Block✨
HEY, WELCOME TO MY BLOG! HERE YOU'LL FIND A VARIETY OF POEMS & ENTRIES ALL CIRCLING AROUND THE EXPERIENCE & TRAUMA WOMEN OF COLOR ARE FACING DUE TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE & SEXUAL ASSAULT
When she speaks,
It’s as if I can hear her heart cry.
I’m in so deep into her eyes
It’s as if I’m retelling her story...
“I remember when you looked me in my eyes
And told me you loved me.
But I know now that was a lie.
Gazing at the reflection I see in the mirror..
..a sea full of tears,
Not from joy but pain.
The bruises, the blood, the battery,
You’re sorry, yea I know.
I was told that if he hits you
It means he loves you.
And in the end,
Boys will be boys, right??”
Well, I need for boys to be men
& realize that her eyes
Are not meant for bruises,
Instead meant to brighten up the sky.
And her skin,
Not to be roughed up,
But to be held in your loving arms.
Sweet, sweet captivity & love.
Oh the joy her heart would feel
If you backed up those three lil words.
‘I love you’
But you’re just a boy,
When all she wanted
Was a man.
